Nancy asks…

How to make apple cinnamon pie moonshine?

I was in Missouri for our float trip, and someone let us taste this it was soo good, I was wondering if anyone knew how to brew this. They said it took 6 months to ferment. It was the best drink ever!

admin answers:

First of all moonshine don’t take no 6 months to make. So lets say three weeks at the most it takes moonshine to make. It’s going to be some pure alcohol well almost and if made right will be very smooth and not much of a taste or flavor. If it taste like apple cinnamon pie then they add flavor to it afterwards. Or maybe it really is apple cinnamon pie wine which in that case it very well could take 6 months and 6 months is a short time to make a wine.

Carol asks…

What is this recipe? It has apples, cinnamon, raisins, and nuts but is not a pie and doesn’t have a crust…?

I had this dessert at church once, but i don’t remember what it is… It has cinnamon apples (or pie filling), raisins, and nuts but it wasn’t a pie or a crumble. It didn’t have a crust or other breading that I remember. I’d like to try making it but I can’t find a recipe. What is this delicious dish?
I don’t remember a crunch or crisp, but I’ll try it anyway. Definitely NOT the mayo fruit salad LOL!!

Could it have been fried apples? Here is an easy and delicious recipe for fried apples. I am also going to leave a link for what fried apples look like. Please note that not everyone puts raisins or nuts in these. In fact, most people do not as it would be a preference of taste. Instead of frying these, you could just open up a can of apple pie filling, heat it up, and add some raisins and nuts, but the cooked kind are best. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Southern Fried Apples
3 tablespoons real butter
3 medium tart apples, unpeeled, cored, quartered, and sliced
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Melt butter in a medium heavy skillet over medium heat. Add apples to skillet; cover and cook for 5 minutes, or until apples are juicy. Turn and sprinkle with 1/3 cup sugar. Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes longer. Uncover and cook 2 to 3 minutes longer, or until sugar is absorbed and apples are lightly browned on bottom. Remove from heat and sprinkle with a few more tablespoons of sugar, depending on tartness of apples.Stir in raisins and nuts. Serve hot as a side dish to ham or pork meal, or with breakfast.
Serves 6.

Daniel asks…

Is there any recipe for a cinnamon free pumpkin pie?

I want to make a cinnamon free pumpkin pie because my friends is allergic. Please help.

admin answers:

Nice to think of your friend for this pie making, how sweet! Sure, just leave it out. But, you might want to adjust the vanilla, nutmeg, cardamon, cloves, cumin and ginger, but also check your allspice before using it, it does have a cinnamon flavor in it, although it’s not in the Allspice Berry itself. If your friend is really allergic to Cinnamon, I would just alter the other flavors to compensate for the cinnamon loss. Hope this helps you out today!

Betty asks…

Does anyone have a good pumpkin pie receipe without cinnamon?

I have a relative that is sensitive to cinnamon, but likes pumpkin pie, I am looking for alternative receipes.

admin answers:

Is your relative allergic to cloves, ginger, allspice or nutmeg?

Take your favorite pumpkin pie recipe. Add together the amount of the above spices and cinnamon. Replace with a mix of the above spices in the ratio of three parts ground nutmeg, three parts ground allspice, two parts ground ginger, and 1/2 part ground cloves.. This is also good for apple pie.

Say, 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 3/4 teaspoon allspice, 1/2 teaspoon ginger and 1/8 teaspoon cloves. That would give you just over 2 teaspoons spices. My recipe for pumpkin pie takes two teaspoons of spices. This mix would be an acceptable amount to substitute.

Or balance the above spices to your taste. Maybe you like more cloves and ginger and less allspice. That’s fine. Just replace approximately the same amount of cinnamon with spice with the cinnamon-less spice mix.
